The first episode of 123 TV - Hosteleria Gratuito was not bad. I thought that it had some good points but the acting was a little below what you would normally expect from a Mexican soap opera. I did however enjoy the storyline and the direction of the story. The plot involves a woman who is trying to escape from a life of crime, which she started in her hometown.
The plot was intriguing, but it did not really have any action for me to take out of the show. This is not a problem as the story is more about the characters than the storyline, which is not a major problem when you consider the fact that this is basically a soap opera. What is a problem though is that the soap opera style is too much for this type of show to deal with.
The main character was played by Monica Galuppo, and while she does a great job playing the character, it is obvious that she is only doing it for the sake of being there. When I saw that they were going to use a soap opera format on a soap opera I was a bit scared at first because it has never worked well before, but I thought that it would at least be interesting to see them try it. I will have to wait for the second season of this show to see how it works out.
